Kernel Siyah 2.2 beta14

Changelog:

• changed low&high second core activation thresholds to 25-70 (defaults are 20-60)
• added two more devices to modify low&high hotplug thresholds when the screen is off (in /sys/module/pm_hotplug : loadl_scroff and loadh_scroff). you can set loadh_scroff to 100 if you want to keep second core disabled when the screen is off.
• lowered screen brightness using the same values in speedmod kernel
• added customizable backlight response curve interface (experimental). there are 2 (for now) configurable files in /sys/class/misc/brightness_curve : min_bl (range 0-200) and max_gamma (0-24). any brightness value below min_bl will have 0 gamma. the defaults are 30 and 24 which are stock values. I will also make use of “exponent” in future which will make the response non-linear. for now, every brightness level which is below min_bl will have gamma 0 and brightness levels > min_bl will be mapped to [0:max_gamma] linearly.
• removed /mnt/emmc 30 seconds after booting (thanks to hervelo@XDA for pointing out the missing part). this will prevent the media in the external sd being indexed twice.
• new arm topology and scheduler updates ( I think I should move to 3.0 to be able to apply these patches easier )
• bln problem on samsung roms in beta13 fixed

• at last, the smoothness is back. thanks to kalpik@XDA for helping me in this smoothing quest.
• updated workqueue implementation to linux-linaro-3.1 kernel
• ondemand governor from linux-3.1 + some tweaks
• some more scheduler merges from linux-linaro-3.1 kernel.
• some more changes that I forgot…

known issues:

1. only external sd is mounted over usb in CWM recovery.

hola a todos! pues tras flasear la criskelo rom v31 me e dispuesto a cambiar el kernel por el siyah ya que dicen que es uno de los que menos bateria te consumen, tengo descargao el siyah 2.1.1, pero e visto que ya ay asta el 2.2.5 beta 15, y haber si alguien me podria explicar que significa el ``beta 15´´ ya que en esto de los kernels estoy algo perdido.

Pues eso que es una beta, una versión casi-definitiva, yo me he puesto el 2.2 beta 16, que es la anterior a la 2.2 RC1 (Release Candidate) versión prácticamente final, que está a punto de lanzar.

muchas gracias moreta, creo que flasheare la 2.2.1 rc1 haber que tal va y ya comentare, porque desde que e instalado roms cocinadas y cambiado el kernel la bateria me dura menos que cuando venia de stock esperemos que con el siyah se mejore o al menos se iguale

Changelog:

• voodoo screen tuning app support (thanks to supercurio). you will be able to change gamma values using scripts. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1241590
• fixed sharpness control in cm7 & miui
• tweaked ondemandx governor
• reverted all parameter tweaks in kernel code to defaults and moved them to tweaks.sh to apply them via sysctl interfaces. you can tweak them further by using your init.d scripts. you can find the tweaks.sh in /sbin/siyah and I have also typed the default values as comments.
• some more tweaks for UI responsiveness
• some fixes (such as sched_mc=2 problem which was causing more battery drain in beta15)
• added some more governors but also removed most of them I compiled all available governors but some of them are compiled as modules. so, if you have a favorite governor which is removed, just “insmod” it. only recommended governors (ondemand, ondemandx, smartassv2, lulzactive, performance, conservative) are loaded as default. brazillianwax, savagedzen, lagfree, lazy, interactive, interactivex, powersave and userspace governors are loadable as modules.
• compiled HFS and HFS_PLUS filesystem support as module. if you do not use apple or hfs on your USB sticks this change is not for you.

Kernel Siyah 2.2 rc1

Changelog:

• reverted /mnt/emmc change for AOSP ROMs (External sdcard was being mounted to /mnt/sdcard/external_sd but it was causing come problems) This should fix external and internal sdcard mounting issues with CM7.
• removed some changes that was causing lockups during boot or random reboots.
• tweaked lulzactive a little bit.

I was thinking about adding more features in v2.2 but I changed my mind. I will release v2.2 and then move to linux-3.1 base in v3.0. The plannes features in my todo list will be added to the next release.
known issues:

1. only external sd is mounted over usb in CWM recovery.
2. ondemandx governor may cause lockups or random reboots. I will look into that. for now, use lulzactive instead.

• changed memory allocator (from SLAB to SLQB)
• possible fix for lag during hotplugging. because of that I have reverted some performance tweaks which were causing battery drain & the device to become hot
• some code cleanups to get ready for the release… new experimental patches are removed such as jrcu, cleancache. they will be enabled in the next version.

• ondemand governor up_threshold changed to 85 and ondemandx is removed. ondemand has default sleep profile now (500MHz as default)
• changed some parameters in tweaks.sh
• uploaded the sources to bitbucket. sorry, there is no commit log as I was using my computer@work. but for the next release there will be detailed commit logs for 3.1 branch, with the cost of slower development.
• REVERTED the integrated Mali-400 drivers released on 21 Nov 2011. I had the same problem that I had in beta5. I need some more time to find out what is causing it. I’ll try to solve it in v3.0
• added lagfree governor back for those who prefer snappiness to battery life. other governors are still available as modules.

Changelog:

• ondemand governor tweaks (up_threshold 80 and sampling_rate 120000 for better responsiveness and battery respectively)
• removed new mali driver leftovers from the merge in rc3. we are not using samsung drivers.
• logging enabled & disabled versions are published separately.

Hay 2 versiones con y sin logs.

Lo estamos comentando en el hilo específico del kernel, el Nolog tiene deshabilitado el registro (log) y la depuración (printk). Estas dos características están más orientadas a desarrolladores.

consider this as a service pack release. there are some stability changes & bugfixes.

• removed compiler optimizations. yes, almost all. and used older codesourcery compiler.
• ondemandx features are removed from ondemand governor and re-enabled 40seconds init delay.
• ondemandx governor added back as module.
• some rollbacks to linux kernel 2.6.35.14 for some files which can improve the stability.
• new mali drivers, although they do not improved performance for me, I kept them.
• increased CIFS maximum buffer size to 64k
• changed lowest brightness back to stock value but added some more steps to the gamma set to have lower (not as low as in the previous version) brightness for low light conditions. highest level will be a little lower than before. in this release, there is no potentially unsafe modified values for our amoled screens. all values used in this release are from samsung’s stock kernel.
