Introduction
Maybe some of you have already seen the original thread, but as we've actually started working on this project now, I think it deserves a new and proper thread.

It's still very much a concept, and over time, things will most likely change and improve, but I'll be keeping this thread up to date and collect feedback from you guys to make this the best Android Homescreen Launcher to date!

So, what is 'Slick UI'?
Like other apps, such as LauncherPro or ADW, Slick UI is a Homescreen-replacement Launcher. It will replace your stock homescreen and add in some great new, more functional and aesthetically pleasing features to make the everyday use of your Android-phone more... well, fun!

The goal of this project is to make the Launcher silky smooth, functional and highly customizable.

Sounds great, but how does it look?

How far along is the project?
Don't get too excited yet! Work has just started, so don't expect anything that actually works soon. There is a lot of work to be done, and we really have to think this through if we want it to 'feel' right.
In the future, we might require some testers to report back on bugs etc, but for now I'd like you to just tell us how you think it looks and let us know what features you would like to see implemented.

Supongo que esto implicará que el Sense desaparecerá o igual sólo estará en la pantalla inicial y se mantendran el resto de ventanas...a esperar toca.

se han empeñado en quitar funcionalidad al escritorio de android, me resulta muy impresionante esta interfaz al igual que la que llevan las roms MIUI, pero para mi no hay nada como los escritorios de android y la funcionalidad de poner lo que quieras en ellos.

Deberían mejorar el launcher de android, tal como hacen ADW Launcher y Launcher Pro...

Muy bonito pero cero en flexibilidad, para eso que creen un widget...

Funcionalidad cero? Que creen un widget?.....

Pues a mí me parece muy util, sobretodo para aquellos que no les guste tener el móvil como mi escritorio de windows...

También se habla de un futuro "customizable dock" y un "customizable content wheel", ¿cuántas cosas sueles usar día a día más que las que puedas poner en esa pantalla? (hablamos de 4 iconos en la rueda y 5 en el dock que se puede ocultar)

Me parece una de las mejores interfaces, aunque como todo... hay que probarlos, despues del estacazo de medal of honor, no me fio de los videos de presentación

Creo que lo interesante de la libertad (o, a este ritmo, libertinaje ) de Android es esto, la posibilidad de personalización extrema y el uso de otros launchers o escritorios que cambien por completo la forma de usar el sistema, el concepto de escritorio móvil en si mismo.

También hay otro proyecto similar, llamado Kite UI. Sigue la filosofía de Windows Phone 7 en el sentido de "un escritorio para cada capa", es decir, uno para "social", otro para "aplicaciones", otro para "web". La verdad es que está también muy interesante y hay algunas capturas de "prueba de concepto" en el hilo de XDA muy agradables a la vista.

Son dos proyectos con interfaces muy distintas, se sigue abriendo el abanico de opciones y ahí está el atractivo del que hablaba antes

La probaremos cuando salga, en un principio tiene muy buena pinta, otra cosa es, si verdaderamente tiene funcionalidad.
