I'm going to pile the bad news on. So, a super-awesome person from my workplace eventually ended up calling. Response was a bit like "What do we care what those 老外（foreigners）think? This is how we do things"

So while we all love this machine for the fact that it exists (or at least thats why I like it-- someone finally built the sort of ambitious tablet I had always wanted) without a serious change in thinking, I think that we're stuck here @ JellyBean....

3) perpetuating nearly every negative western stereotype of Chinese business people
4) Showing me that despite the ban on most forms of religion, worship of STUPIDITY can be practiced quite openly!

Ellos creen que consiguen mejor negocio, estan confundidos, sus tabletas no tienen ningun interes, con ese atractivo hardware y apoyo de la cominidad, xda, cm... seria completamente diferente. No entiendo que piensan estos chinos.

It's late at night and I'm updating to 4.4. Thanks for that, J. I had a profound realization a few minutes ago, one that I thought I'd share:

Though none of us can fathom this attitude, it's quite possible that the manufacturers side of the argument would like to see devices like this have a 6 month lifespan-- it keeps us buying more.

Thing is, it really is terrible for the planet, not to mention our wallets.

Nerds everywhere should begin to press for their national/ state/provincial/local governments to require that devices like this be user modifiable and have open kernel/driver/etc to enable end user development as an environmental imperative!

If you like this idea, I hope that you'll spread it around the net. We can do it!
