I just discovered that Elephone Trunk have (almost) identical specs:
https://www.devicespecifications.com...ison/c584481c6 Now I'm on Xiaomi Redmi 4X so I'll try soon some Trunk ROM. Stay tuned. |

OK, today I tried to "raw flashing" official Omni 7.1.2 for Trunk but - of course - TWRP refuses to write it.
If someone wanna try to port/test here's the official download page: http://dl.omnirom.org/trunk |

Sounds promising. I'm still using a VF-895N, but find performance with the stock ROM leaves a lot to be desired. Would be great to see a port with improved performance and newer Android. Unfortunately I'm loathe to experiment, as this is my only phone - but will be watching this thread with interest.

I'm in direct contact with the (italian) developer of the Nougat build for Trunk, so i'll post progress here. |

siljaer (the official OnniROM-Nougat for the Elephone Trunk maintainer) directed me to 7043 github that, according to him, could be used as a source for build.
Any volunteer ? |

It looks like the alcatel one touch (as per your github link) has different display/camera resolutions. The elephone trunk looks like a closer match. When you tried to flash the omnirom, did it come up with something like This package is for "trunk" devices \ this is a VF-895N.? If so, you could try removing those lines from META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script inside the OmniROM ZIP file, before attempting to flash.
Did siljaer say anything about using the Elephone Trunk OmniROM with the SP6? I'm wondering why he directed you to the github page. Maybe he has some knowledge that the OmniROM isn't suitable for the SP6. |

I'm happy to volunteer, but building ROMs is totally new to me. As I mentioned, I only have the one phone so I'm not willing to risk my phone, at least not at this early stage, but I'm certainly willing to collaborate on building a ROM.
I do have access to a Linux VM, and have attempted to build a ROM. But I don't know what I'm doing, so any guidance would be appreciated. The steps I've run through are documented at https://pastebin.com/6Cb9iX0G. My confusion lies in the steps I need to take / changes I need to make in order for the make command to build a ROM, specifically targeting the VF-895N. Any advice? |

@forart.eu I was reading through this thread and noticed that there still remains the question of whether it's possible to workaround the TWRP write refusal:

On building a custom Nougat ROM:- Unfortunately I'm no further along than I was in May. I was hoping that someone with ROM building experience would advise on the message I am seeing: Cita:
I doubt there's much interest in the Smart Prime 6 now, but if anyone has any time for this I'd be very grateful. |

Happy new year to VF-895N users !
Here's some interesting repositories to revive the discussion around it: https://github.com/search?o=desc&q=a...e=Repositories Hope that inspires ! |
