API google maps android

Sabeis si la API de maps nativa de android tiene limite de uso?
La de web son 25000 peticiones despues hay que pagar.
No tengo muy claro que pasa con la de android. Pone esto en la web de google:

"The Google Earth API, and native Maps APIs for mobile platforms such as Android and iOS are not affected. Use of the embed feature of Google Maps, and other Google products that offer an embed feature that includes a map, are not affected by these limits."


Pero me suena haber leido por ahi que tambien habian limitado el uso de la nativa de android. Que primero era gratis pero a partir de un cierto numero de visitas habia que pagar tambien.

Alguien sabe como esta el tema?
