"I am on a Windows Mobile 6.5.1 Rom Build 23053 built from Calkulin's 9/28 kitchen and lumos does not detect any light at all. When i run the wizard, the senor stays at 0 under bright or dark conditions. I have tried reinstalling it with no luck."

That may be either ROM issue - in that case you can search for diamond sensor drivers, they should be somewhere around XDA and if you install the pack, you should get all 3rd party software to work. Or in more unliklely case a HW malfunction, but I suppose windows integrated auto-backlight works so that's not the case.
Or just ask your chef to use the proper sensor drivers and sdk."
¿Te suena de algo esos Diamond Sensor Drivers que menciona?
