A ver, hiciste el wipe desde el recovery? No te desesperes y no te lies a hacer cosas porque sí, ya que la SD no es el problema. El problema es la MEM DEL TELÉFONO, LA INTERNA, que está casi llena y no es capaz de arrancar. Ya te dije que brickear una Hero es casi imposible, ya que no se toca el boot en ningún momento. El tema del bucle en arranque es un problema conocido y hay soluciones. Mira... :

If your phone start to reboot again and again in a loop, then it's certainly because the system partition is full or really close to.
if you use adb shell then mount system mount data etc... then df -h
you'll see that your partition is pretty full.
I hope that you did a nandroid backup. (in case not, just wipe and reinstall... nothing else to do)
so just restore your backup.
Use something like "mybackup" (available on market for 30days trial) to save all your wanted data and system.
(I hope you have your sd card ready to use with A2SD, it's really better)
Reboot then install the new 2.0 firmware.
A si que tranquilizate. Quitale la batería, y vuelve a ponersela. Arranca en modo recovery y haz un wipe. Reinicias y probamos a ver que tal.
Si no, ahora te paso otra solución, o sea, meterle la RUU directamente de HTC, la que han sacado, que borra el root, el recovery custom y todo y se te queda funcionando. Pero el tema de los backups nandroid, no es el hacerlo o no, sino el restaurarlos a posteriori, a si que lo de formatear la SD MAL! jeje.
