1.5 years later Epic unveils Unreal Engine 5 with Mesh Shaders rebranded as "Nanite" --their killer feature, (~2 months after Microsoft released Mesh Shader support in DirectX12) ...EVERY engine that supports the full spec of DirectX12 or Vulkan will have this feature. Pure marketing genius, though. Everyone sitting at home in quarantine waiting for something exciting to happen... the vast majority having never heard about or remembered Mesh Shaders in the shadow of the Real-Time Raytracing announcement at the time.
