resumen, en XDA recomiendan las versiones de la Google Camera:
GC_5.0.009 (BSG, 2017-10-14)

v.1.4_v3: MGCB_7.0H_C2API_Full_PXL2_v.1.4_60FPS_noburst_v3 (ivanich, 2017-08-27) (stable, no config needed)
para root:
Are you rooted? If yes - fine. If no:
Developer options:
- Enable OEM unlock
- Enable USD debugging
Turn device off - then go into fastboot mode by holding volume down key + power key.
Connect device via USB to your laptop
Set up minimal ADB on your PC - go into ADB folder and shift + right-click then open CMD prompt.
In command prompt type: fastboot oem unlock
Hit enter and you're unlocked.
Download https://desktop.firmware.mobi/device...1.cfar/landing
onto your deskop and unzip it. Run the root.bat file. You'll need to hit enter a bunch of times, just keep going. After it's run give your phone a minute or two (don't unplug first!) and it will start to reboot. You are now rooted.

Mejor explicado, imposible...
La duda que tengo es el proceso a seguir cuando hay una actualización.
He revisado los distintos hilos en XDA y no lo veo nada claro.
Tú ya has 'pasado' por una actualización, teniendo root? Cuál sería el proceso?
