No, son 2 modos diferentes.
He conseguido entrar usando este sistema, que comentaban en otro hilo por aqui:

Fastboot Method

I recommend copying this file to your PC or somewhere safe as well.
Wipe your laf partition to enable fastboot fallback
Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/laf
Then power off the device, and plug in your USB cable to your PC, don't plug in the micro-USB end yet.
Hold volume up and plug the micro-USB in, you should be in fastboot now.

Es muy recomendable hacer, como dicen, una copia de la particion laf. Ya que con esto tenemos acceso al modo fastboot, pero no al bootloader. Necesario para flashear con LG flashtools.
Para volver a tener el modo bootloader operativo teneis que utilizar lo que se comenta en este post:

El tema de tener acceso al modo fastboot es porque queria provar el comando
fastboot oem off-mode-charge 0
Sirve para que el telefono-tablet se autoenchufe cuando lo ponemos a cargar, genial si como yo tienes el tablet en el salpicadero del coche como sistema gps.
Pero vaya, el comando no ha funcionado, no lo reconoce.
