"Hi,
I am the owner of a HTC Desire HD and this letter is to issue a formal complaint based on the following grounds:
1- Desire HD is advertised as having the capability to record and play video content of up to 720p quality.
2- After having the phone for over a month I find the quality of 720 video recording to be abismal in comparison with other similarly priced android handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy S. I use a 16 Gb class 6 MicroSD card in my handset. Issues with recording include (but are not limited to)
a) very low framerate in less than perfect lighting conditions.
b) brightness changes abruptly during recording.
c) lots of grain in picture.
These problems have persisted even after tweaking the settings of the camera application. Some of them also affect pictures (grain)
3- My complaint about video playback issues consists mostly of the absolute impossibility to have decent playback of 720p files encoded in x264 or included in a mkv container. This handset is supposed to have quite a powerful adreno205 GPU which should make 720p video playback possible. I suspect a poor implementation of the graphics driver. Please pass this onto the proper department so that a fix can be investigated.
