Many have been asking the question about whether the Xperia X10 will receive the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) update at some point in the future, either through official or custom means. Well those chances have been boosted as one of the xda wizards has released an Android 2.3 preview ROM for the Xperia X10, which runs on the existing kernel (2.6.29).

This is not a custom ROM and shouldn’t be seen as such, it is simply an emulator for Gingerbread that shows people what they can expect from the latest release. Originally, there were rumours that Android 2.3 had minimum hardware requirements attached to it, but this has been shot down by Android engineers. So hopefully there are few barriers that should stop X10 owners seeing at least a custom Gingerbread ROM at some point down the line. Check out a video of it in action after the jump.

Resumiendo: Mucho se ha hablado de que si nuestro X10 soportaria 2.3 ya que se rumoreaba que necesita 512mb de RAM cuando eso no parece del todo cierto, ya que XDA nos muestra un emulador a modo de demostración de que este smart puede con esta nueva versión de Android. De momento no se sabe si SE va a trabajar para traernosla de forma oficial pero seguro que nuestro amigo jerpelea tiene algún AS en la manga y en breve nos pone un caramelito, el tiempo lo dirá.
