My Box said "3.7" touch screen" (ie no mention of AMOLED), but the display is definitely an AMOLED one.
The only real ways of telling are
1) If the bootloader version that it comes with is Version 0.80 or below it must be AMOLED (SLCD screens are only supported in bootloader versions 0.83 or higher)
2) In a completely black room go to the settings screen. If there is no (or almost no light) coming from the black portions of the screen its AMOLED, otherwise SLCD.
3) Get a magnifying glass (or a small droplet of water on the screen) The pentile pixel arrangement should be visible if its AMOLED i.e:
RGBG
BGRG
as opposed to the normal pixel arrangement (as in SLCD) of
RGBRGB
RGBRGB"
