This is correct and normal. As a battery saving measure, we disconnect your phone after 5 minutes of inactivity. We then rely on google push notifications to wake up and receive new messages. This is new and is a recent change. I hope this clarifies,

Que viene a decir que para ahorrar bateria el whatsapp desconecta a los 5min de inactividad y en ese momento relega en las notificaciones push de gmail para recibir nuevos mensajes. No sé como lo haran pero en mi Desire por ahora no va nada bien este nuevo invento.

pues yo no entiendo muy bien eso... qué quiere decir, que si alguien te escribe no te va a llegar hasta que no tengas una notificacion del push de google? esto no puede ser asi...
