Regarding 2.2 and in general on further updates – I have said some things a few pages back.. At this point the current plan is to offer a second update in the beginning of next year but at this stage we’re not ruling a later Android release included in that either in or out, sorry.
Beex and others,
Regarding bootloader some of you actually seem to think we shouldn’t be working on this update at all and just open up the bootloader.. Where would that leave the average consumer? I’m not sure what the full rationale behind having locked SW in phones is and therefore I perhaps am not the right person to give a full answer. That said I guess there are lots of legal requirements around such things and also network operators do test new products or SW-updates thouroughly so I guess their control is also a reason to not allow everything. When it comes to the arguments that some of you could implement newer versions in practicly no time I’m sure you could – however would that SW be legally type approved? Would it be approved by network operators? No. Don’t get me wrong here though – I do understand what your after but I don’t have any good news around that at this point, sorry.
