Nos gusta

La duración de la batería es fantástica. La simplificación del software es sin duda una gran mejora. La pantalla es sobresaliente. Y el diseño, pese a no ser ni de lejos igual de atractivo que otros smartphones de gama alta, es funcional. La cubierta trasera y sus famosos agujeros hacen difícil que te resbale de las manos. Y la resistencia al agua (IP67) es algo que debería ser casi obligatorio en todos los móviles.
La cámara produce fotos espectaculares (siempre y cuando haya suficiente luz) y es la que mejor vídeo HDR graba. La conexión WiFi (MIMO) y 4G iban realmente rápidas y la potencia y rendimiento es más que suficiente incluso para entretenerte con juegos de gráficos complejos.


No nos gusta


El software del S5 ha mejorado, pero sigue bastante por detrás de HTC en términos de facilidad de uso, y a años luz de cualquier Motorola con Android puro. Hay demasiado retraso en la mayoría de funciones (especialmente en la galería de fotos o en apps como S Health), algo imperdonable con un procesador tan potente como el que tiene. El escáner de huellas es más molesto que útil (sobre todo sabiendo que es fácilmente hackeable (http://es.gizmodo.com/hackean-el-escaner-de-huellas-del-galaxy-s5-con-un-senc-1563376836)) y el pulsómetro en la parte trasera es ese tipo de funciones que enseñas una vez para presumir y no vuelves a utilizar.
Otros dos puntos molestos: la cámara es bastante pobre en escenas con poca luz y los altavoces dejan bastante que desear.

CELULARIS

Pros



Pantalla. Las Super AMOLED se han superado. Quien mantenga los prejuicios de hace un par de años, que los olvide en honor a la verdad. Hablamos de calidad casi equiparable a IPS.
Cámara. Mucho más todoterreno que la del S4, tiene opciones interesantes como el enfoque selectivo o el HDR en tiempo real y las fotos nocturnas han mejorado. Además el enfoque es rapidísimo.
Resistencia al agua. Gusta que Samsung se apunte a equipar su flagship con IP-67. Sony ya no está sola.


Contras



Diseño industrial. Tras ver al HTC One M8 o al Nokia Lumia 1520, el Galaxy S5 queda notablemente por debajo. Falta un empujón serio aquí. Remodelar la carcasa trasera está bien, pero no es suficiente.
TouchWiz. Se agradece el rediseño parcial, pero sigue haciendo falta otro empujón hacia una interfaz más bonita.

So, we wanted to know how the 16MP camera on the Samsung Galaxy S5 performs, and the results from our comparison are now in. The answer is not going to surprise anyone – the phone is ideal for taking photos and videos under a broad range of circumstances. Its camera is fast, reliable, and with a rich arsenal of modes and settings to experiment with. Sure, the snapper was not a perfect performer in every single test that we put it through, but still, it ranks among the best on the market.

On the other hand, you'd be wrong to assume that the Samsung Galaxy S5 stands in a league of its own with its camera. Compared to last year's high-ends, such as the iPhone 5s, the LG G2, and the Sony Xperia Z1, Samsung's new flagship appears to be only slightly better in the camera department. That said, upgrading from one of these to the Galaxy S5 just because of its touted snapper can't be regarded as a justified investment.

The Google Nexus 5 and the HTC One (M8) are trailing behind the pack, just like the case was in our previous comparison. Their cameras aren't bad by any means, and the photos we just presented for you prove that, but if you want a smartphone with a truly great, versatile camera that would tackle even the trickiest of scenes, you might want to look elsewhere.

The Good
Display: Best. Screen. Ever. Samsung's Super AMOLED HD panel is the finest display the company has ever produced. It is incredibly bright (and dim if need be), has superb outdoor visibility, viewing angles second to none, and the auto-brightness finally works right. There may be more accurate screens out there, but I can't say I care at this point - Samsung is too far ahead for it to matter.

Camera: Samsung's enlarged sensor on the Galaxy S5 produces absolutely great images (for a smartphone) when lighting is decent. The real-time HDR preview mode is super cool, too. It supports a huge array of video recording options, including HDR video, and the phase detection auto-focus really does work. Samsung's camera app is also highly usable and intuitive.

Battery life: The Galaxy S5 has among the best battery life I've ever experienced on an Android device. The standby life is staggeringly good, and even with that bright Super AMOLED display it really does seem to sip power.

Water resistance: Making a phone more resistant to the elements is hard to classify as anything but a positive, annoying USB port cover aside.

Speed: Probably the most noticeable upgrade over the S4 is in the realm of performance - the Galaxy S5 is fast. Not any faster than the HTC One M8 that I can tell, and maybe still a touch slower than the Nexus 5, but all in all, it's very quick.

The Not So Good

Bloat: TouchWiz, even with its much easier-on-the-eyes redesign, still has a lot of carryover bloat from the Galaxy S III and S4. Some of this stuff (air gestures, air view, smart pause, group play) is unabashedly useless and needs to be left behind. Just let it go, Samsung - no one is using this crap.

Fingerprint scanner: It's a nuisance to use and just feels like an afterthought. Apple's Touch ID is a simple, innovative implementation of biometric verification. Samsung's is just a new coat of paint on the same system that made the Atrix an overnight success. Oh wait.

Storage: 16GB, 10GB of which are usable. There is no 32GB model of the S5 available in the US on any carrier. In fact, the 32GB S5 is only available in Korea for the time being. Samsung, suck it up and make 32GB the standard level of storage - or make it cheaper - this isn't enough, especially when the camera takes photos that are 7-9MB apiece and video is up to 4K. SD cards are just an excuse for cheaping out on the storage we actually want at this point.

Plastic: It still feels cheap. Samsung, I beg of you, find a way to make your phones feel like they should retail for $700. Granted, it does feel nicer than the S4 thanks to the dimpled, soft-touch back.

Me quedo con esto del análisis de Celularis:

Me mojo: el S5 está al nivel del LG G2 en cuanto a autonomía, sobre todo en navegación web, donde sorprendentemente no consume tanto como yo creía que haría. Recordemos que un AMOLED sufre más sangría de batería con los blancos, y la mayoría de fondos web, empezando por esta misma, son blancos. Un usuario que le dé un uso moderado a su smartphone no debería tener problema en llegar a los dos días sin tener que pasar por el cargador.
