Leyendo diversos post, veo que todos flashean al motoG con el adb_fastboot.
Yo siempre lo hice en mis otros moviles con el CWM. Busque por la www y encontré este manual del moto:
How to flash the Official Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS on Motorola Moto G (US, Non- US/International models)
1. download the Android 4.4.2 update file from here; or by checking the official page by visiting this page from here.
2. save the downloaded file on your PC on the desktop folder.
Do not unzip the downloaded file.
3. connect the Moto G device by using the USB cable.
4. Copy and Paste the downloaded file from the desktop to your device’s SD card.
5. Power off the phone and then enter into recovery mode.
6. From recovery mode menu, select “wipe cache partition” and then perform “wipe dalvick cache”
7. wipe the system by selecting the “wipe data factory reset” option.
8. return to main menu of recovery mode.
9. From the main menu of recovery mode select “install zip from SD card” and then “choose zip from SD card”.
10. Browse and pick the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS and install the update file on your device.
11. Now, return to main menu of recovery mode and from there select “reboot system now”.
That’s all; you have successfully installed the official Android 4.4.2 KK OS on your Motorola Moto G device.

Vamos, ¿por qué no lo hacéis así? Le haces un backup con el recovery y te instalas la 4.4.x o la que sea; si no te gusta tiras del "restore backup" y listo :D
