Problema con Bluetooth (Pebble / BLE)

I have a PEBBLE Smartwatch (with BLS = Bluetooth Low Energy) already for 3-4 years and I've used it with several smartphones, such as Nexus 4 and 5, Motorola Moto X Force, Huawei P10, and bq Aquaris X. Even with Aquaris X everything was OK under Android 7. After the upgrade of "X" to Oreo (Android 8.1), and also now with the "X2", there are following issues:

With the the official Pebble App, only one initial bloetooth pairing/connection is possible. After this first connection breaks (eg. Flight Mode on+off), no consecutive bluetooth connection is possible.

The alternative App called Gadgetbridge works. There are severa problems, though:

* the Gadgedbridge App indicates that the Pebble Watch is connected (and it flawlessly works). At the same time, the Android OS says that there is no active bluetoothe connection. The Smart Lock does not recognize Pebble as connected trustful device, too.

* it is possible to re-connect once the bluetooth connection is gone, but is does not happen automatically (like on Aquaris X under older Android 7), and the smartphone asks every single time - again and agein - if I really want to pair the same watch and allow access to the address book.

Please look at the screenshots.

It is definitively a bug and should be fixed.

I would be glad to give more infos abut that issue, if needed.

theWaver Por lo que comentas, el comportamiento que aparece en el Aquaris X2 es el mismo que tenías con tu Aquaris X en Android 8.1 ¿verdad?

Sí, idéntico en el Aquaris X desde la actualización a Oreo (Android 8.1). Android 7 estaba bien.

Pregunté en el foro de Pebble. Hay usuarios en los que la aplicación Pebble y/o Gatgetbridge funcionan correctamente con Oreo en otros smartphones (Pixel, Motorola). Algunos tienen problemas similares. Al menos uno también con otro Smartwatch (BLE = bluetooth de baja energía).

No espero que la vieja aplicación PEBBLE funcione correctamente. Sin embargo, Gadgebridge es nuevo, a menudo actualizado y teóricamente compatible con Oreo.

Por cierto, también uso MACRODROID para la automatización. Todo estaba bien en el Aquaris X con Android 7. Ahora Macrodroid ya no reconoce la conexión Bluetooth con Pebble. Ni como estado ("conectado") ni como evento ("estaba conectado" o "estaba desconectado").

Las otras conexiones Bluetooth (no BLE) son correctas: con el coche Peugeot y con un altavoz Yamaha. Sólo Pebble es un problema.

theWaver Muchas gracias por tu ayuda. En ese caso lo que haremos será revisar qué está ocurriendo con el Aquaris X2. Si como dices, el problema es el mismo que tenemos en Aquaris X podremos integrar una solución en ambos dispositivos en las próximas OTAs.

Esperamos poder solventar este problema cuanto antes y que puedas seguir usando tu PEBBLE cuanto antes. Lamentamos las molestias que esta circunstancia pueda estar ocasionandote. Si necesitáramos algo mas de información contactaríamos de nuevo contigo.

Por favor, pregúnteme si necesita más información. Soy un experto en TI y desarrollador de software y puedo ayudarle a encontrar el error con los registros de depuración (debug logs).

By the way, yesterday and today, the bluetooth reconnect with the Pebble did not work.
Usually, once the connection breaks (eg. when I with my Pabble go away from the phone), I have to re-connect manually: start the Gadgedbridge App GUI, and tap "connect". Now it did not work: only the message "connecting..." was shown. I had to delete the data of the systen process "Bluetooth", remove the paired "Pebble 9961", then discover and pair the smartwatch again. It did happen in the past with the Aquaris X with Oreo often, almost every morning. With the X2, it happens for the first time now (twice in two days).

The Gadgetbridge App has "reconnect automatically" feature, but it does not work at all.

The X2 (re)connects via bluetooth to the Peugeot car as expected, but not to the Pebble.

Teniendo en cuenta tus comentarios vemos que el problema es exactamente el mismo. Aún no podemos confirmarlo porque necesitamos hacer bastantes pruebas. En cualquier caso, este asunto ya se encuentra en manos de nuestro equipo de desarrollo y trabajaremos para solventarlo cuanto antes.
