This build is currently based on AOSP 2.1_r2. I've also added most of the same things that you can find in the previous CyanogenMod versions.

Now available in CM Updater!

#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty is now void.

* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/This is a pure, working AOSP build which you can use without any type of Google applications. I found a link from some other project that can be used to restore the Google parts, which can be found below or elsewhere in the thread. I've still included the various hardware-specific code, which seems to be slowly being open-sourced anyway.

* Can be used with or without Google applications
* Kernel 2.6.33.4 with Pershoot's tweaks (http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/), highmem support (thanks to Arve Hjønnevåg and the rest @ Google for this work), tethering (thanks to Zinx and Ben Buxton for the original RNDIS backport, and Google for merging the goodies into the gadget subsystem), VPN/tun, and other modules (cifs, nfs, aufs, fuse)
* Clean shutdown/startup system
* New Apps2SD method implemented mostly by Chris Soyars. Create an ext4 partition and enable it in settings->applications (wiki page coming soon)
* Built in USB tether
* Graphical enhancements, trippy bootanimation, #boobs, and excellent wallpapers by Prash
* ARM NEON optimizations from 0xdroid (http://www.gitorious.org/0xdroid) and Qualcomm (http://codeaurora.org/)

READ ALL OF THIS POST AND THE ONE AFTER IT!

No, really, read it all. There's important information in here, honest!

Edit: Desire to Nexus One port status update - read (http://android.modaco.com/content/google-nexus-one-nexusone-modaco-com/304832/desire-port-to-nexus-one-status-update/)

What is it?

As you all know, HTC have announced the 'HTC Desire', which is effectively HTC's version of the Nexus One. It shares a lot of the same hardware, but features cool stuff like HTC Sense and other cool apps (such as a camera app with face recognition, touch focus etc. etc.). The product is due to launch soon, which means ROMs have started to leak. This Alpha release is one such leak.

Alpha? That sounds scary?

Yeah, this isn't even Beta. There's a good chance you won't want to use this as your main ROM, but you might like to check out what's coming down the road.

So what works?

Almost everything - it's quicker to talk about what doesn't work. Aside from the FM radio, there appear to be no hardware incompatibilities that will cause a problem between the two devices. Even the noise cancelling microphone is functional in this ROM. The only problems with the ROM are related to the fact that HTC are yet to release the Desire kernel source, and there's a lot of changes in there. For the latest known issues status, please see the post below.

Tell me about partitions!

The Desire has a different partition layout to the Nexus One, which means some stuff had to be moved from /system to /data. No biggie, and with each Alpha release i'm optimising further to improve the situation. Be aware that this means you must wipe BEFORE installing the ROM and NOT AFTER, or it won't boot. A wipe is strongly recommended before trying this ROM - and remember to nandroid backup first!

What else are you working on for the ROM?

I have deliberately left this ROM un-odex'd, as I know other ROM developers will like to have a play with it (remember to credit your source guys!). Going forward, odex'ing the ROM makes a lot of sense to save space, although it's less of an issue now I have moved the dalvik-cache to the cache partition (as in cyanogen's ROM).

What kernel are you using? Any other tweaks worth knowing about?

The ROM has the usual MCR tweaks (tun.ko, openvpn, busybox, dropbear etc.) and is running a custom kernel by teknologist and myself based on the stock .33 source (check the changelog below for more details). Himem is enabled. The kernel runs at standard clock speeds, uniquely only using undervolt at the lowest clock speeds.

This is great - how can we say thanks?

You can express your appreciation by signing up to a MoDaCo Ad Free or MoDaCo Plus Account using PayPal or Google Checkout, as detailed in this post on MoDaCo (http://android.modaco.com/index.php?act=announce&f=426&id=2). As well as donating to support the work that goes into all the various MoDaCo activites, you get cool stuff like free software (there's some great Android stuff coming too!), and ad free MoDaCo site and of course access to the MoDaCo Online Kitchen. All signups are very much appreciated.

Alright, i've read enough, gimme the downloads!

One download, update zip format, apply via Amon_RA's excellent recovery image, remember to Nandroid backup first. You probably won't want to use this as your production ROM yet!

An online kitchen is AVAILABLE NOW in this post (http://android.modaco.com/content/google-nexus-one-nexusone-modaco-com/303009/23-feb-alpha-9-modaco-custom-rom-with-htc-sense-desire-rom-now-with-online-kitchen/&view=findpost&p=1195198) for MoDaCo premium members, which includes all the usual MCR goodies. Rather than uploading the whole ROM every time I tweak it, I may also roll out test fixes through the kitchen before pushing them to the main zip (it's MUCH easier and MUCH quicker with my slow upstream connection). Note that if you install the standard ROM, you don't need to wipe to switch to a kitchen ROM (and between kitchen ROMs!)

FRF50 Froyo pre-rooted by Modaco (http://android.modaco.com/content/google-nexus-one-nexusone-modaco-com/309286/24-may-frf50-froyo-pre-rooted-update-zip-no-radio-option-online-kitchen/)

You may have heard that FRF50, Froyo, is here for the Nexus One!

I took some quick time out of my weekend-with-family-visitors to repack it so it has no pre-requisites unlike the official release. This also means you can flash via the usual custom recovery image, and i've unlocked the boot image and added ChainsDD's excellent Superuser app too. I've included the radio image in the repack, as it's in the real FRF50 release!

Kitchen, de-odex pack, Superboot, MCR release with all the usual goodies and much more to follow next week. Edit: Kitchen and superboots now available below!

FRF50 with radio (recommended) - DOWNLOAD (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?qt0hfogmuwt) (MediaFire Pro) / MIRROR (http://www.romraid.com/paul/nexusone/update-nexusone-FRF50-signed.zip) (ROMraid / CoBlitz) MD5: 946229291ed8e24cd80aeb4a66ca2fc7

Kang-o-rama 0.7 Final - CM5.0.7.1+OC/UV/21MB+Desire+Helix OR CM Launcher (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670317)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v227/djmcnz/Android/Kang-o-rama/KangHeader1.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v227/djmcnz/Android/Kang-o-rama/KangHeader2.png

New Fast Mirror Added - Special Thanks To D0ugie (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=412894)!!

Now with 5 column CyanogenMod launcher option!!

If you're looking for a fast, reliable and stable collection of excellent mods and apps for your Nexus one then you've found it because here is Kang-o-rama for your consumption. This bundle, which installs with one automated script, brings together some of the best and most essential roms, mods and apps for your Nexus. Based on the simply incredible CyanogenMod and the blazing fast overclock kernel from pershoot Kang-o-rama gives you a frustration-free 'wow' out-of-the-box experience. Credit goes to all of the devs out there that have made Kang-o-rama a possibility for so many people (remember though, you can always PM me if you'd like your software removed).

Final releases are stable insofar as they have been tested by a wide variety of users. The last Final (stable) release will always be available and these are safe to install on your phone. Beta software in this thread will be clearly identified as such. Although *I've* tested the beta versions please only try them if you know what you're expecting and are prepared to restore from backup.

Included new Google YouTube app with hi-res default option built in
And of course my new Desire notification bar mod
Trackball Alert has been removed for the time being // Now compatible with Kang-o-rama 0.7 Final!! See this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6615994&postcount=635) post

Icon PacksIcon packs can be used by applications such as Apps Organizer which is included in Kang-o-rama 0.7! They are also compatible with Better Cut and other applications that specifically look for icon packs. You can view the icons from the Launcher app but can only apply them with an app such as Apps Organizer or Better Cut. Oh, and by the way, they're Awesome! The screen caps above are of Apps Organizer folders using the included icon packs! You must at least wipe Cache and Dalvik-Cache before installing this. You really should wipe Data as well. If you know enough to make your own call based on the contents of this bundle then feel free but I don't endorse any other approach. If you want it to work then wipe.

Please make sure you read the threads linked above and understand what you're installing. There are risks and it's entirely up to you know what they are and how to mitigate them.
Yes of course your phone needs to be rooted!
This update script does NOT back up ANY data or apps!

Download Kang-o-rama from the link below
Copy Kang-o-rama to root of your phone's SD Card
Reboot into Recovery
Do a Nandroid backup
Do another Nandroid backup just in case
Wipe Data, Cache, Dalvik-Cache, Battery Stats, Rotation Settings
Flash the Kang-o-rama zip file from your SD Card
Reboot phone
Enjoy

This is running stock speeds, you will need to use an application to overclock it. Additional fonts can only be used by applications looking for Android Font Packs (e.g. ChompSMS). The font pack can be uninstalled like any other app.

A few important notes (updated 26/05):

The files used to modify the notification bar and text colour have been changed substantially in CM-5.0.7 to work with the new Spare Parts application. When you first boot your clock text colour will be white but you will need to change all of the the other notification text colours in the Spare Parts application to your preferences.[/COLOR]
The HTC Sense live wallpaper will cause your phone to run slowly, it consumes huge amounts of resources. I recommend only using it for show and tell.
(Helix)Launcher2 does not work nicely with some widgets and also acts up when switching between portrait and landscape modes some times. I still think the benefits outweigh the costs in this case. From the release of Kang-o-rama 0.7-Final I will provide a means to choose the standard CyanogenMod launcher when installing Kang-o-rama.
BetterCut works fine to create and edit shortcuts. However, if BetterCut is resident in memory and Launcher2 is closed (restarted) BetterCut will complain when you use it next. It may say that you have Open Home installed or it may fc. If this happens just kill the BetterCut task and restart the application. This can be prevented if you kill the BetterCut task before restarting Launcher2.
To use the HTC Keyboard you need to enable it in Settings | Language & Keyboard. Permissions for this app's data are set rw for everybody and system is the owner. I know this isn't correct. I couldn't set them specifically for this app which may be a limitation of my knowledge or the way I'm installing it. Not really any drama for a keyboard app.
To use Ringtones Extented, simply select it from the pop-up when you go to change a ring or notification tone. Select it as Default because from within Ringtones Extended you can also use the standard Android menu.
(Helix)Launcher2 DOES NOT HAVE 5 COLUMNS!

CREDIT: Please remember to click on the source links above and offer the credit you think is appropriate for the awesome development creativity and effort that's been applied. Go on.

New Fast Mirror Added - Special Thanks To D0ugie (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=412894)!!
