...DO NOT flash a firmware build for a different model number. Period. (Model numbers are in bold)

If you have the correct model number but a different region, you should be fine if you perform a factory reset first. Obviously this will erase any and all app data, settings, ringtones, etc. which is why you should always make backups first.
