In accordence with Google's relevant policy, and also to help users use smartphone more safely, there will be some changes with MIUI China developer version Root permission. ROOT permission will be disabled for Mi 3 WCDMA/CDMA, Mi 4 TD/WCDMA, Mi Note/Pro, and Mi 4c by default. The same method will be ported on other Mi devices gradually.
Mi 4c and Mi Note Pro got update 6.1.12, which will lock your device bootloader. It will not affect normal MIUI updates. But if you want to flash custom ROMs or revert to older MIUI version, you'll need to unlock bootloader first.
