CyanogenMod: Full and delta OTA updates for end-users
Delta updates are now enabled for all devices (as of 26/03/2014).
Download the latest build that supports OTA updates from
http://download.androidarmv6.org/_builds.
To perform an OTA update:
1. Navigate to Settings -> About phone -> CyanogenMod updates.
2. Ensure that New versions (incl. Nightlies) is selected for Update Types.
3. Press the refresh icon to refresh the list of available builds, choose the desired update, then follow the on-screen prompts.
4. The updater will automatically choose the most appropriate update package (delta package if it is available for your current ROM, otherwise it will choose a full OTA package).
Delta updates are smaller and more efficient:
1. Reduced wear on internal flash memory. Formatting and reinstalling the system partition is no longer needed; only the changed files are patched to the latest version directly on your device.
2. Smaller download. Delta updates contain only the changed data needed to patch files to the latest version, resulting in much smaller packages.
All recoveries can flash the new update automatically.
